Pop-Up Class: Grades 9th to 12th (Code 112)

Date/Time: Saturday, May 6 from 11:15AM to 12:15PM

Location: In person and outdoors at SPARC
Get to know SPARC through one of our free Pop-Up classes! We offer one Pop-Up class per age group several times per year to provide an opportunity to learn more about what we do in longer-term SPARC classes. Pop-Ups are one-time workshops offering an hour of exploration through different theatrical lessons. Topics may include storytelling, dance, singing, improv games, knowledge-building theatre exercises, and more. Pop-Ups are also a great way for young people to connect with new friends who share an interest in performing arts.
SPARC faculty and staff will be available after Pop-Ups to offer information about upcoming classes and opportunities for students to get involved.

SPARCLERS Mini Session 1 (Code 126)

June 12 – June 16, 2023 in-person at Epiphany Lutheran Church (1400 Horsepen Rd, Richmond, VA 23226)
Hours: 9am – 12:30pm.
Ages: 4 – 5. If your camper will be 6 years old by the first day of camp, you may enroll them in SPARCLERS.
Theme: Kindness Connection
Kindness is not what you do, but who you are! Learn the important part you play in sharing kindness in your community every day. We'll use storytelling, song, and dance to discover small actions you can take to make a big impact on the world. Bring your imagination and your sense of community to this creative drama camp. Your family and friends will be able learn how they can do their part, too, during your final share. Each camper will receive a souvenir t-shirt to wear during their final performance and to remember their time at camp.

SPARCLERS Session 1 (Code 125)

June 12 – June 16, 2023 in-person at Epiphany Lutheran Church (1400 Horsepen Rd, Richmond, VA 23226)
Hours: 9am – 3pm (optional extended day care available at an additional cost)
- Early Arrival from 8:15AM to 9AM, $60
- Extended Afternoon from 3PM to 4:30PM, $90
Ages: 6 – 8; Rising 1st – 3rd Grades
Theme: Character Clubhouse
Every character has a story tell and something that makes them unique. Become your favorite character from popular television shows and movies using storytelling, singing, and dancing. Find out how all of these characters might interact together while using your creativity and teamwork to tell their stories. Who will you discover in the clubhouse? Invite your friends and family to the clubhouse at the end of the week for your final share. Each camper will receive a souvenir t-shirt to wear during their final performance and to remember their time at camp.

June 20 – June 23, 2023 (NO CAMP June 19) in-person at Tuckahoe Presbyterian Church (7000 Park Ave, Richmond, VA 23226)
Hours: 9am – 3pm (optional extended day care available at an additional cost)
- Early Arrival from 8:15AM to 9AM, $48
- Extended Afternoon from 3PM to 4:30PM, $70
Ages: 6 – 8; Rising 1st – 3rd Grades
Theme: Pure Imagination
Ever wanted to go on an exciting journey where anything can happen? Step into a world of sweets and wonder in this imaginative camp. Explore what it means to make bold choices and discover what’s waiting for you beyond your own imagination. You’re sure to discover what you truly wish to be during this week of performing some of your favorite songs, dances, and creative arts! Grab your golden ticket and show the other dreamers what you learned by sharing your final performance the last day of camp. Each camper will receive a souvenir t-shirt to wear during their final performance and to remember their time at camp.

Standing up for yourself is an important part of life and growing up. Learn excellent life lessons about what it means to stand up for yourself through song, dance, and creative play. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to make new friends, practice sharing, and discover your love of performing arts. At the end of the week, you’ll be able to share what you learned during your final performance! Each camper will receive a souvenir t-shirt to wear during their final performance and to remember their time at camp.

In a galaxy far, far away or on a moon that is only accessible through an avatar you are the hero of the story in this performing arts camp. Your journey will use storytelling, song, and dance to tell the story of your incredible adventures. Weather flying on a banshee or commanding a star fighter, your skills will be honed for victory by the end of the week. Share your new skill and bravery at your final performance for friends and family. Each camper will receive a souvenir t-shirt to wear during their final performance and to remember their time at camp.
