StageCraft is a new pilot program from SPARC that focuses on building a community for students interested in all aspects of technical theatre, but especially backstage work. As members of the StageCraft, students will meet with professional Designers and Technicians once a week to learn about the various roles of a crew member. Participants will also learn practical skills related to shop safety, set construction, lighting design and hanging, sound design, stage management, and much more!  The program will culminate with the StageCraft members putting their learning into action as production crew for SPARC performances.  Roles will be assigned based on interest, skill set, and experience. Along with the weekly meetings listed above we ask that families tentatively put the following SPARC performances in their calendars. In addition to the programs listed below, other events that have crew opportunities may pop up throughout the school year.

Throughout the year we will have three Live Art experiences open to all members of the SPARC community, not just current Live Art students. This is an opportunity to participate in a rigorous, accessible, fun artistic experience in community with fellow youth artists and incredible teaching artists.

Join us January 17-20th from 4:30-6:00pm for the Live Art Experience Workshop: Live Art Filmmaking, taught by two-time Emmy Award winning filmmaker Martin Montgomery. This six-hour intensive is an opportunity for all students interested in jumping into the world of filmmaking to create in an accessible, nurturing, collaborative, and fun environment. Working in community with local filmmakers and fellow youth artists, you can expect to explore filmmaking techniques, learn foundational principles of filmmaking, and create mini films. You do not need prior experience in filmmaking to be part of the workshop; all you need is creativity and a willingness to try new things!

The Live Art Experience Workshop Series is open to all youth in the SPARC community, not just students currently enrolled in Live Art!
