Create a piece of original theatre in this unique class! Youth will embark on an exploratory process where they’ll discover how conversation, improvisation, music, and movement come together to tell a story. Storycraft is centered on amplifying young people’s distinctive opinions and experiences, building meaningful connections, and working to achieve a goal. This class is meant to develop a young person’s process of creating and presenting a story. In drawing connections between personal experiences and dramatization, youth will practice brainstorming, problem-solving, and collaborating to create one original work of theatre as a class. Perhaps most importantly, students will learn to respect and honor the stories of others as well as their own. Youth will share their original piece of theatre for a small audience of friends and family at the end of the session. Because this class creates a unique performance piece with each new session, this class can be taken more than once with fresh lessons and takeaways each time.
