How does an actor embody a character? How do they bring life and truth to a story? Every actor has their own approach to these questions. In The Actor’s Process, young people will explore a series of foundational exercises designed to help them discover the methods that work for them as an actor. This class will start with understanding the world of a play and developing curiosity about its characters. Young people will next experiment with using their voice, body, and mind to step into a character. Finally, students will be paired with a scene partner. Through this introduction to scene work, actors will practice using vocal and physical expression to convey emotion, react to their partner, and tell a convincing story. This class will also reinforce theatrical principles like vocabulary, staging, and memorization. The Actor’s Process is designed for all levels of experience in acting.
