This workshop package is for both Dance It Out: Wicked and Dance It Out: Hadestown.

Dance It Out: Wicked

(Tuesday, May 6th 5:30PM to 7PM)

This workshop combines the energy of jazz and musical theatre dance, offering a dynamic class suitable for all experience levels. Set to music from the iconic musical and movie, students will have the opportunity to stretch their abilities through warm-ups, across the floor exercises, and a choreographed combination. Build confidence, enhance your technique, and get ready for an exciting, high-energy class!       

Dance It Out: Hadestown

(Tuesday, May 13th 5:15PM to 6:45PM)

This workshop offers students an opportunity to explore the intersection between ballet and musical theatre dance. No prior dance experience is needed—whether you’re just starting out or have a background in musical theatre or ballet, this class is designed to support all levels. Students will work through center barre, across the floor exercises, and a combination to “Flowers” from the Tony Award winning Hadestown, all while developing their technical skills and storytelling abilities.

This workshop is a great choice for students who are looking to improve their overall stage presence, and especially those who are interested in comedy! In this one-time class, we'll work on joke delivery, getting comfortable using a microphone and the importance of pauses, inflection, and volume when performing. The workshop will meet in SPARC’s theater, so students can practice these skills on stage!

Bravo Summer Company Session 1 (Code 124)

June 2 – June 13, 2025 in-person at Tuckahoe Presbyterian Church (7000 Park Ave, Richmond, VA 23226).

Hours: Mon. – Fri., 9AM to 3PM (optional extended day available at an additional cost)

  • Early Arrival from 8:15AM to 9AM, $140
  • Extended Afternoon from 3PM to 4:30PM, $210

Extended afternoons are not offered on the last day of camp. Youth will go home with trusted adults after their final sharing performance.

Grades: Rising 9th to Just-Graduated Seniors

This challenging, contemporary, non-audition-based program will train company members in skills like acting, music, dance, and script writing. Members of Bravo Summer Company will work collaboratively to form an ensemble and use their skills to devise an original musical theatre-based piece! Carefully curated workshops and master classes taught by industry professionals round out this dynamic summer experience. Your final day will culminate with a performance of the original work that you helped to create!

Campers are welcome to enroll in Bravo Summer Co. session 2, but it’s important to note that the Bravo Summer Co. curriculum from session 1 will repeat in session 2.

SPARC’s Backstage Camp is a great choice for young people who love to build new things, bring their ideas to life, and get a messy along the way. Learn important skills that designers and technicians need for staging theatrical productions, like painting, making props, stage management, costuming, and more.

Youth who are interested in learning more about technical theatre are encouraged to participate! No prior skills or experience are necessary.

Step onto the red carpet for two weeks and learn more about the art of film from both sides of the camera! Students will gain hands-on experience in on-screen acting, camera work, and editing for movies and television and will even create independent projects featuring their own ideas.
